Currency converter FAQ

What rate does this converter use?

The live mid-market rate โ€” the neutral midpoint between the buy and sell prices banks trade at. It is the fairest reference rate, though banks and card networks usually add a markup on top for consumers.

How often are the rates updated?

Rates come from ExchangeRate-API and refresh regularly throughout the day. Each page shows the "updated" timestamp of the data it was built with; the live converter fetches the latest rate when you load it.

Is this the exact rate I'll get?

No. It is the market reference rate. The rate your bank, card or transfer service offers will include their margin and any fees, so the amount you actually send or receive can be lower.

Which currencies are supported?

The converter covers the US dollar, euro, pound, yen and around 30 other major world currencies. Pick any two from the dropdowns.

Is it free?

Yes โ€” the converter and all conversion tables are free to use.
