What this data does and doesn't tell you
These are complaints consumers submitted to the CFPB, forwarded to the company for a response — not proven wrongdoing, and not a random sample. Bigger companies with more customers rack up more complaints by sheer volume, so raw counts favor comparing companies of similar size, not ranking every company on one scale. "Timely response" means the company replied within the required window, not that the issue was resolved to the consumer's satisfaction.
Narratives shown are ones the consumer chose to make public; CFPB scrubs personal information before publishing them, but they're otherwise unedited and unverified.
